A few years ago, I was making fresh pasta for dinner when I reached for frozen garlic bread from the grocery store. In that moment, I felt so disrespectful to the beautiful meal I'd just created. That's when everything changed.
I started making my own bread from scratch. What began as a simple desire to honor good food became something much bigger. Every time family and friends came over, they'd request that bread. I realized I wasn't just baking – I was creating moments of pure joy.
Wink's isn't just a name – it's a family tradition. Named after our family nickname and honoring my dad's entrepreneurial spirit with his company "Wink's Heavy Equipment Service," Wink's Craft Bakery carries forward a legacy of hard work, quality, and serving our community.
This means everything to us. Other than sleep and water, we have to eat. And while our lives are short here on earth, we ought to enjoy delicious, simple, and tasty food the way it was meant to be.
"Be Happy" is our way of life – being thankful we can eat, live, walk, and talk. Grateful for simply existing.
We believe in simple and delicious. Our loaf pan breads are incredible for sandwiches, lunches, or elevating anything you need them for. But more than that, we want to give you a "smelling the roses" moment – that single bite of a cookie or taste of a new bread flavor where all the worries and stress of the world melt away, and you can truly just enjoy being present.

As the heart and hands behind our recipes, Conrad put on his baker’s hat and got to work assembling the dream crew with one simple mission: to bring fresh, affordable bread to the Hartford area—because good bread shouldn’t be complicated. It should be honest, delicious, and made with care.

Olivia, our multi-talented sous baker, keeps the kitchen running smoothly with ingredient prep, cleaning, and packaging. But her skills don’t stop there—she’s also our Chief Secretary, helping out with business tasks whenever she’s not off literally saving lives at the hospital. She’s a true jack-of-all-trades, and we’re lucky to have her hands (and heart) on deck.
Rooted in Wisconsin pride, we use only the best local ingredients to create our signature baked goods—because homegrown flavors just taste better. Hartford is where we started, and it will always be at the heart of everything we do.
